Guided Tours (2022)

Our first tour of the season will be on Sunday, May 15 2022 at 2 o’clock.

Upcoming Dates

Sunday, May 15 – “Residents Galore on Our Flat Walk Tour.”  Take an easy ramble, visiting numerous famous (and a few infamous) residents of Oakwood.


Sunday, June 12 – “Rendezvous in 52.”  Sue Greenhagen will introduce us to some fascinating residents with special stories to tell.


Sunday, July 17 – “More to be Seen in Section 14.” This is a grab-bag of the most interesting residents of this large and varied section.  Diane Medvitz will be our guide.


Sunday, August 21 – “A Stroll with Mrs. LC Smith” Living historian Sue Greenhagen will lead our tour as Flora Smith, visiting Flora’s many interesting neighbors around Section 65.


Sunday, September 18 – “Stories a Plenty in 19 & 20.”  Diane Medvitz will lead this tour, and introduce us to some of the unique people residing in these two sections, including the legendary Colvin family.


Important to always note:

  • For every tour, please enter the Comstock entrance, and follow the tour signs.
  • We go rain or shine, but not if there’s thunder and lightning.
  • All tours are free of charge, but we appreciate any donation to our organization in support of our efforts to promote, preserve, and protect Oakwood Cemetery.

The 1879 mortuary chapel has been an icon in Oakwood Cemetery for well over 100 years.
